Giants say all of team's coronavirus tests in Scottsdale were negative

Major League Baseball is about to enter a whole new world full of testing and quarantines and safety protocols. The Giants kicked off that stressful process with a bit of good news.

The team announced Tuesday that every person tested for COVID-19 last week came back negative. The Giants had closed their Scottsdale Stadium facility on Friday after one member of the organization and one family member exhibited symptoms consistent with the coronavirus, and about 20 people in all were tested.

The news comes as MLB is set to embark on a 60-game season with strict safety protocols in place. The players are expected to approve MLB's latest demands sometime Tuesday, kicking off a sprint for Giants players to get to Oracle Park. Previously, the organization had reopened Scottsdale Stadium to players and staffers who remained in the area.

MLB shut down all spring training facilities over the weekend and the expectation is that most, if not all, clubs will hold Spring Training 2.0 at their home ballparks. The Giants plan to work out at Oracle Park, where changes are being made to provide more space for players to practice social distancing.
