No timetable has been given for Ramos' absence, but reading between the lines of Kapler's comments, it could be a few weeks.
With a crowded outfield situation on the big league club, the 20-year-old Ramos was ticketed for the Giants' alternate camp site in Sacramento. But now this latest news likely means Ramos won't be able to work out or play in intrasquad games at Sutter Health Park.

Taken with the No. 19 pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, Ramos is close to being major-league ready. Under normal circumstances, he was expected to spend a majority of the 2020 season at Double-A or Triple-A. But with the coronavirus pandemic altering the season, the Giants made sure to include him on the 60-man Summer Camp roster.

In 102 games between Single-A San Jose and Double-A Richmond last season, Ramos slashed .290/.369/.481 with 24 doubles, 16 home runs and 55 RBI.
The Giants don't need to rush Ramos back from injury or up to the big league club, but a few weeks ago, Kapler left the door open for Ramos to make his MLB debut this season.

"I'm never one to rule anything out, and Ramos has shown especially well in these first couple of days," Kapler said July 6 on KNBR's "Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks" show.
Of course, those comments were made before Ramos suffered the infection in his leg. Hopefully for both parties, this is a minor setback and the highly-touted prospect can continue his development in Sacramento as soon as possible.
