SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants might be a week away from having their whole starting lineup on the field again, and on Sunday a player who is threatening to break into that group survived a scare. Mac Williamson was removed in the sixth after jamming his left shoulder, but he felt "pretty good" after a series of strength and flexibility tests and the Giants are hopeful that this will be just a day-to-day thing.
Williamson made a sliding attempt at a Chris Heisey flare to left that got caught up in the sun, and he managed to throw to third for a force. But he immediately knelt down in pain. After a brief meeting with trainer Dave Groeschner, Williamson was removed. The Giants didn't want to risk it since he was due up first in the next half-inning and would have to swing a bat.
Williamson said it "felt like (the shoulder) was grinding in there or something" after he pushed off the ground to make the throw to third.

"It went numb for a little bit, but the range of motion is good," he said. "I don't think it came out (of the socket) ... it felt weird when it happened and just went numb."
The Giants will reevaluate Williamson on Tuesday, and the test will be important. Ehire Adrianza is expected to be activated and they'll need a roster spot. In recent days, some around the team have speculated that a player might end up on the DL to rest/heal for a couple weeks, but it sounds like Williamson won't need that. He was pretty confident after getting checked out.
--- The game story focuses on Matt Cain's 100th win and a series of bizarre moves that gave the team a huge lift. A couple players and Bochy made sure to point out how good the bullpen has been lately, and I'll have more on that after the deadline. It doesn't sound like anything is imminent.
Cain became the sixth San Francisco Giant to reach 100 wins, joining Marichal, Perry, Lincecum, Rueter and McCormick.

"To be able to win 100 games with the team that drafted you and has gone through everything with you, it's very memorable," Cain said.
Bumgarner, by the way, isn't far behind. He's at 95 career wins. He should pass everyone but Marichal (238) and Perry (134) by the end of next season. Lincecum is third at 108.
--- Bumgarner is 3-for-8 with a walk as a pinch-hitter. Bochy has been hesitant to use him that way this season, but that might change down the stretch. He really is a weapon.
--- It was odd to see Eduardo Nunez and Angel Pagan take off with Buster Posey at the plate and two outs, and Bochy said that was not called from the bench. Nunez has the green light, and it's likely that nobody has told him yet that, "uhh, you probably shouldn't do that with Posey up." Pagan seemed to follow along and he was thrown out. Bochy said it would turn into a teaching moment. Luckily for the Giants, it didn't cost them.
