Giants’ Hunter Pence ‘losing sleep’ over MLB The Show playing ability

With live baseball involving actual human players on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, leagues like MLB have had to evolve their live content.

One way both MLB and the NBA have tried to adapt is by having players from among its teams competing in tournaments playing the league's corresponding video game, like NBA 2K and MLB The Show.

Hunter Pence was chosen as the Giants' representative for the 30-team MLB The Show tournament and says he was made for this opportunity.

"I've always been an avid gamer," Pence told the hosts of NBC Sports Bay Area's "Triples Alley" on Friday. "I think that the player's league has been one of the coolest things I've been a part of, because I'm getting to have all these connections with players from all the other teams, getting to know them and, MLB The Show looks so realistic that it kind of gives you a little bit of that fix that we're missing with baseball."

Pence did come across an incredibly unfortunate glitch in the game during one of his matchups, which nearly cost him a victory.

"I'm losing sleep for how bad I am at that game," Pence said. "I feel like the whole Giants organization is on me playing this video game good, and sorry my right thumb is not the same as my right arm."
