All Franklin Barreto needed was one game. The A's top prospect went 2-for-4 with a home run on Opening Day Thursday for the Nashville Sounds and now he's headed up to the big leagues.
Barreto, 22, will join the A's as Chad Pinder hits the DL, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 22-year-old can play both second base and shortstop. Last season in Triple-A, Barreto slashed .290/.339/.456 with 15 home runs.
