Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta on Madison Bumgarner: ‘He's beatable'

Programming note: October Quest starts tonight at 5pm on CSN Bay Area, and immediately after the final out of Game 1.

Jake Arrieta said some very nice things about Madison Bumgarner on Thursday.

But he also gave the 2014 World Series MVP and the Giants some bulletin-board material.

“He’s really good, but he’s beatable,” Arrieta told reporters.

Bumgarner threw a complete game shutout in the Wild Card Game against the Mets on Wednesday night.

Over his last nine postseason appearances (eight starts), he is 8-1 with a 0.79 ERA.

Across 68.2 innings, he has allowed six earned runs, 34 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 59.
