OAKLAND -– The Oakland A’s have recalled left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton from Triple-A Nashville and placed left-handed pitcher Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 20 with a left middle finger blister, the team announced Saturday.

Overton joins the A’s for the third time this year and is 1-1 with an 8.40 ERA in three starts in his Major League debut. He was selected for the first time June 25 and went 1-1 with an 11.42 ERA in two starts before he was optioned back to Nashville July 1. He returned July 19, allowed three runs in 6.1 innings and had a no decision in the A’s 4-3, 10-inning win over Houston that day, and was sent back to Nashville the next day. Overton is also 10-4 with a 3.21 ERA in 17 games, including 16 starts, with the Sounds.

Hill is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA in 14 starts for the A’s this year. He left the game on July 17 after five pitches with the blister. This is his second stint on the disabled list this year as he was also on the DL May 30-July 1 with a left groin strain. At the time of his first stint, he ranked second in the American League in wins and ERA and third in strikeouts.
