SAN FRANCISCO -- Three days before FanFest, the Giants took care of their last bit of offseason business. The club agreed to a one-year deal with first baseman Brandon Belt, avoiding arbitration.
The deal is for $6.2 million, $200K below the $6.4 million midpoint.

Belt, 27, hit .280 last season with 18 homers and 68 RBI, and he was a finalist for the Gold Glove Award. This is the third consecutive year he has agreed to a one-year, arbitration-avoiding deal, and the second time the deal has come within hours of a hearing.
Belt made $2.9 million in 2014 and $3.6 million last season. He is scheduled to be a free agent after the 2017 season but the Giants have indicated a willingness to try and reach a long-term agreement.
Belt and right-hander George Kontos were the only arbitration-eligible Giants after the offseason spending spree was completed. Kontos also settled without going to a hearing.
