The news just keeps getting worse for the AL West-leading Astros. They were already without Jose Altuve, shortstop Carlos Correa, Lance McCullers Jr. and Chris Devinski. Now, they've lost All-Star centerfielder George Springer to an injury.
Springer will be placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday after sustaining a left thumb sprain on Sunday against the Dodgers. The injury occurred when Springer slid head-first into second base on a stolen base attempt and jammed his hand into the glove of Dodgers shortstop Chris Taylor.
Houston will call up top prospect Derek Fisher to take Springer's spot on the roster, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.
