A's outfielder Jai Miller, who was designated for assignment following the deal that sent pitcher Gio Gonzales to the Nationals, was traded to Baltimore for cash considerations, the club announced Tuesday.
He spent most of 2011 with Triple-A Sacramento, batting .276 with 32 home runs and 88 RBI in 110 games. The 26-year old ranked second in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, fourth in slugging (.588) and tied for seventh in extra base hits (60). Miller was drafted by Florida in 2003 and is a .235 career hitter in 28 games with the Marlins (2008), Kansas City (2010) and Oakland (2011).
"Jai Miller has the power, speed, base stealing skills and good athletic ability to be an asset in our outfield as he competes for a spot on our ballclub this spring," said Dan Duquette, Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations in a statement.
