It was a quick turnaround from the night before, but the A’s were still buzzing off Matt Olson’s walk-off grand slam against the Los Angeles Angels. The second game of the four-game series left us with much to be desired, but the 4-1 loss was much in part due to the pitching situation.
The bullpen remained relatively strong, but that couldn’t help the fact that the Angels came to play on both sides of the ball.

Sean Manaea will figure it out
By all accounts, Manaea looked dominant at the beginning of his outing. That was until the top of the fourth when Justin Upton hit a solo home run off of a curveball that appeared to stay up.
It went downhill from there.
Andrelton Simmons doubled and David Fletcher would follow suit.
Manaea finished his outing with three strikeouts, but allowed four earned runs and five hits in 4.2 innings.

Ramón Laureano remains hot
Shayna Rubin, A’s beat writer for the Mercury News, took the tweet right out of my mouth.
Laureano is hitting the crap out of the ball lately.
He really is.
The workhorse came off of a strong outing on Friday night against the Angels where he sent an Andrew Heaney curveball over the fence in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Laureano added to the dominance on Saturday with a pair of singles.
Can Luzardo come out and play?
Jesús Luzardo came into the sixth inning with a nice three-up, three-down inning showing off a nasty fastball.
Luzardo had two strikeouts in that inning, and despite giving up a double to Tommy La Stella in the seventh, it still added to us salivating at the thought of having him be a member of the starting rotation.
The 22-year-old had a setback when he tested positive for coronavirus over two weeks ago. He was forced to isolate for a period of time and get two negative tests within 24 hours of one another before he could rejoin the A's.
