
The A's activated catcher Josh Phegley from the 15-day disabled list Friday and optioned Matt McBride to Triple-A Nashville.
Phegley's return gives the A's their season-opening catching tandem as he pairs with Stephen Vogt once again.

Phegley was placed on the disabled list May 17 retroactive to May 10 with a strained right knee.
He went 6-for-19 (.316) with four walks on a five-game rehab assignment with Nashville. Phegley was batting .270 with two doubles and three RBI in 13 games with the A’s before the injury.
McBride was recalled from Nashville May 13 for his second stint with the A’s and batted .222 with one RBI in eight games, including four starts at catcher. He did not play during his first stay with Oakland from April 27-28. McBride was hitting .175 with a home run and four RBI in 20 games with Nashville.
