Hahn was scheduled to start Friday for Triple-A Nashville but was scratched from that outing. His promotion continues a shift in the makeup of the A's rotation. Left-hander Sean Manaea takes the ball Friday night in his major league debut.
A's starters struggled badly over the last half of their just-completed 10-game road trip, with Chris Bassitt being hit hard against the Blue Jays and Tigers. A's manager Bob Melvin expressed some concern to reporters Thursday about Bassitt's dip in velocity.
The A's have yet to announce anything regarding Hahn's promotion or a corresponding roster move, but it appears that he would slide in for Bassitt for the time being. With Hahn going Saturday, he would be followed by Kendall Graveman, Rich Hill and Sonny Gray as the rotation currently unfolds, with the latter three getting an extra day of rest.
The San Francisco Chronicle was first to report the news.
