A's raise more than 50,000 for breast cancer organizations

The As raised 53,600 Sunday as part of their Breast CancerAwareness Day, giving the funds to the American Cancer Society, CancerPrevention Institute of Californiaand Susan G. Korman for the Cure.Oakland raised the money through the sale of special ticketpackages, commemorative pins, hats, pink jerseys, heart ribbon pendants, and anautographed As quilt raffle in addition to fan and sponsor support.The As Breast Cancer Awareness Day has raised more than1.25 million for breast cancer education and research over the past 14 years.Oaklandheld a pre-game ceremony before its matchup with the Red Sox, featuring morethan 500 Bay Area breast cancer survivors who formed a human ribbon on thefield.The As also donated 5,000 dollars to the Friends ofFaith organization as part of A Gift of Faith grant, honoring the late KTVUChannel 2 reporter Faith Fancher.A's media relations staff contributed to this report
