A's place Chad Pinder on DL after he was involved in car accident in Denver

Chad Pinder didn't play in Saturday's game against the Rockies, but on Sunday morning, the A's placed him on the 10-day disabled list with a left elbow laceration.

About an hour after the news came down, beat writers with the team in Denver reported that Pinder was involved in a car accident on Saturday afternoon, prior to the game in the evening.

Pinder was not driving the car, according to The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. Pinder's fiance was in the car and suffered a bruise.

'Feel for him. That's a real-life circumstance there. Glad it wasn't worse," manager Bob Melvin told the media in Denver roughly 90 minutes before Sunday's game.

Infield prospect Franklin Barreto was recalled to take Pinder's place on the roster.

In 71 games this season, Pinder is hitting .259/.332/.453 with nine doubles, 10 home runs and 23 RBI.
