A's place Barton on disabled list

Oakland A's first baseman Daric Barton, nursing a strained right shoulder, has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to March 24, the team announced Tuesday.Barton played in just seven spring training games and struggled to the tune of a .176 batting average and no runs batted in. He hit .212 with no home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games last season.Also on the A's disabled list are pitcher Brett Anderson and third baseman Scott Sizemore. The A's have 26 active players on their 40-man roster and must finalize their 25-man roster Wednesday.
