This Date in A's History - July 27, 1965
In the 2nd game of a double-header at Fenway Park, 19-year old Jim "Catfish" Hunter recorded his 1st of 224 career wins. The future Hall-of-Famer went 5 innings allowing 5 runs (including a grand slam to 20-year old Tony Conigliaro) but thanks to an A's 6-run 1st inning left the game with a 8-5 lead. The Kansas City A's would go on to win the game 10-8. (Bert Campaneris went 4 for 5 with an HR and 4 runs scored)
