
The Oakland A's optioned right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker, the centerpiece of the Trevor Cahill trade this offseason, to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced Monday.On Dec. 9, A's GM Billy Beane sent Cahill and reliever Craig Breslow to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for Parker, outfielder Colin Cowgill and relief pitcher Ryan Cook.Parker pitched 5.2 shutout innings in a late-season start with the Diamondbacks after going 11-8 with a 3.79 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 130.2 innings with Arizona's Double-A affiliate last season.In Cactus League play with the A's this spring, Parker went 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA and 13 walks compared to nine strikeouts in 11 innings. Monday, he picked up the win against his former team, despite allowing two earned runs on seven walks and a hit in 3.2 innings.
