A's notes: Mike Fiers sets career make in win over Yankees

OAKLAND — Mike Fiers pitched six strong innings Wednesday night to improve to 4-0 since joining the A's. Fiers has now won each of his last five decisions, marking the longest winning streak of his career. He has not suffered a loss since July 13 at Houston, as a member of the Detroit Tigers.

In six starts with the A's, Fiers has an ERA of 2.94, allowing two runs or fewer in five of the six games. Oakland is a perfect 6-0 in his starts.

--- The A's finished a stretch of 20 games in 20 days with a 12-8 record. Thursday will be Oakland's first day off since August 16.

--- Oakland remained the only team in MLB that is unbeaten when leading after seven innings (60-0). They improved to 69-0 when leading after eight.

--- The A's are unbeaten in their last 12 home series (10-0-2), matching the longest single-season home unbeaten streak in franchise history. Overall, they have only lost two of their last 23 series (18-2-3).

--- Oakland notched six doubles, giving them 498 extra-base hits for the season. They have only reached 500 extra-base hits 11 times in franchise history. The A's have hit six or more doubles in five games this season, including three of their last 23.

--- Every A's starter reached base safely at least once. Josh Phegley was the only starter without a hit, but he walked in the fourth inning.

--- Matt Chapman hit his 35th double of the season. He leads MLB with 33 extra-base hits since the All-Star break.

--- Stephen Piscotty extended his hitting streak to eight games. He is batting .379 (11-for-29) with four homers and 13 RBI during that stretch. In his last 17 games, Piscotty is hitting .354 (23-for-65) with 7 home runs, four doubles, and 18 RBI.

--- Oakland is 50-21 since June 16, the best record in MLB during that stretch. At 84-57 overall, the A's have the fourth best record in the majors.

--- The A's improved to 24-15 against the Yankees since the start of the 2013 season, including an 18-7 mark at the Coliseum. The teams split six games this season.
