But that's exactly what happened Thursday night in the bottom of the eighth inning of the A's-Rangers game at the Coliseum.

SIGN UP HERE With two outs, A's shortstop Marcus Semien took off from first base on the first pitch from Rangers pitcher Taylor Guerrieri to Matt Olson.
The Rangers shifted their infield in anticipation of Olson pulling the ball, so no fielder was close to third base. Once Semien realized this, he jogged to third.
The Rangers were up 11-3 at the time and clearly didn't care that Semien got two free bases.

If Texas was so indifferent to Semien strolling around the bases, it should have just let him run all the way home.
