King Felix III: The A's face the Mariners in seven of the first 10 games, and draw the straw to face 2010 Cy Young award winner Felix Hernandez in each of his first three starts of the season.

A's manager Bob Melvin and the A's aren't upset with the schedulers, though. The A's have scored seven runs off Hernandez in his first two starts, despite the Mariners winning both contests.

Health front: Josh Reddick left Wednesday's game after a pitch glanced off his right shoulder and into the back of his jaw. He said he saw "spotty lights" when he opened his eyes and was removed for precautionary reasons.

"The off day couldn't have come at a better time," he said Wednesday. Reddick is back in his normal spot tonight -- batting third and playing right field.

Cliff Pennington also had to leave Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his knee. He shouldn't suffer any residual effects, but his mobility is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Momentum: Nothing breeds momentum heading into a seven-game road trip like winning an extra-innings ballgame at home before leaving. That's exactly the position the A's find themselves in, and tonight's game will set the tone for two more games in Seattle followed by four in Los Angeles against the Angels.
