OAKLAND -- Anthony Slocumb was leaning against the portable fence that separated fans from batting practice with a shy smile on his face, and one particular A's player was looking at him.
Khris Davis approached Slocumb, but this wasn't the first time the two met. You see, last season, Davis met Slocumb and had the then-10-year-old sign Davis' jersey. The A's were holding a Make-A-Wish fundraiser as the team hosted the Rangers back in August.
Davis sported the signed jersey throughout the entire game, where he hit a home run.

"I thought about him around the bases," Davis said after they first met. "There's not a better feeling than hitting a home run, and if he got some excitement and joy from watching that ... I hope he saw it."
Fast forward to Thursday's A's home opener against the Angels, and the two were reunited -- and young Anthony was wearing the exact jersey he signed for the A's designated hitter:
Davis brought Slocumb up to the batting practice cage and A's outfielder Stephen Piscotty introduced himself to the young fan. As Anthony walked away, KD made sure he didn't leave without a souvenir and handed him his batting practice bat.
But his day wasn't over yet ...
Anthony was told Rickey Henderson wanted to meet him:
I watched Anthony throughout the entire event and he didn't lose his smile once. Media talked to him, and Anthony's mother kept complimenting how nice Davis and the A's organization had been to him throughout a day in which Anthony will never forget.
Of course, Khrush made Slocumb's day even better with a 6th inning homer.
It doesn't get much better than that.
