The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Felix Doubront on a one-year contract for the 2016 season, avoiding arbitration, the club announced on Wednesday. The A’s did not tender a contract to first baseman Ike Davis, making him a free agent, and outrighted left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe to Nashville.
Doubront was released by Chicago (NL) during spring training, signed a minor league deal with Toronto April 2 and was traded to Oakland for cash considerations July 31. He combined with Toronto and Oakland to go 3-3 with a 5.50 ERA in 16 games, including 12 starts. The 28-year-old left-hander allowed a .298 opponents batting average, including .225 against left-handed hitters compared to .321 against right-handers.
Davis batted .229 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 74 games in a season shortened by two stints on the disabled list. He had career lows in home runs, RBI, runs scored (19) and on-base percentage (.301). The 28-year-old made 60 of his 61 starts in games in which the opponent started a right-handed pitcher. Davis had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip Aug. 27.

Coulombe was designated for assignment Nov. 25 when the A’s acquired Jed Lowrie from Houston. He began the season in the Los Angeles (NL) organization and logged a 7.56 ERA in five games over five stints with the Dodgers. The 26-year-old left-hander was traded to Oakland Sept. 10 for cash considerations and compiled a 3.52 ERA in nine games with the A’s. Coulombe had no decisions and a 5.63 ERA in 14 relief appearances overall.
The A’s have 10 remaining players eligible for arbitration including Yonder Alonso, Sam Fuld, Brett Lawrie, Jarrod Parker, Josh Reddick, Fernando Rodriguez, Marc Rzepcynski, Evan Scribner, Eric Sogard and Danny Valencia.
