OAKLAND -– The Oakland A’s reinstated left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced Wednesday.
Manaea was 2-4 with a 6.02 ERA in nine starts when he was placed on the disabled list June 14 with a left pronator strain. After going 0-1 with an 11.37 ERA and .382 opponents batting average over his first three starts, he is 2-3 with a 4.17 ERA and .243 opponents average over his last six. Manaea made one rehab start for Single-A Stockton last Friday against San Jose and had a no decision after allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out three, surrendered a home run and tossed 64 pitches.
Alcantara was recalled from Nashville June 21 and went 2-for-8 (.250) with two stolen bases in three games with the A’s. He was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 9 for Chris Coghlan and hit .162 in 10 games with the Sounds after batting .264 in 53 games with Iowa. He is a perfect 26-for-26 in stolen base attempts in the minors.
