The A's activated Billy Butler from the seven-day concussion disabled list Monday and optioned infielder Arismendy Alcantara to Single-A Stockton.
Butler, injured in a clubhouse fight with teammate Danny Valencia, has been doing pregame activity with the A's but needed to pass concussion tests before being activated. He'll officially join the A's for Monday night's opener of a three-game series at Houston.
The calendar might have something to do with Alcantara heading to Stockton. The Ports' season ends Sept. 5, and that would allow Alcantara to rejoin the A's without spending the required 10 days in the minors. Major league rosters can expand to a maximum of 40 starting Sept. 1 (Thursday).

Also, keeping Alcantara on the West Coast makes for a much more convenient return trip when and if he does rejoin the A's on their next homestand.
