Christian Arroyo's return from the Triple-A disabled list ended halfway through the game.
Out since June 14 with a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch, Arroyo was hit again on the hand Saturday night while playing for the Sacramento River Cats.
With the River Cats trailing Fresno 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Grizzlies pitcher Dean Deetz tried to come inside on Arroyo. The pitch appeared to hit the top of Arroyo's left hand.

Arroyo immediately jumped in pain and slammed his helmet down in anger. The River Cats' trainer checked on Arroyo, who was promptly removed from the game. He finished the contest 0-for-1 with a walk and hit-by-pitch.
Arroyo wasn't the only notable player in the lineup Saturday for the River Cats.
Offseason acquisition Melvin Upton Jr. made his season-debut after missing the first three months of the season following surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb.
Upton Jr. batted sixth and played center field. He went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Highly-touted prospect Chris Shaw continued to light up Triple-A pitching. He went 2-for-4 and clubbed his seventh home run in his 32nd game.
As for Tyler Beede, the top prospect's night ended even before Arroyo's. Beede lasted just 3.2 innings and allowed five hits, four earned runs, six walks and struck out five. His ERA with Sacramento jumps to 5.30.
