Christian Arroyo is widely considered the top prospect in the Giants organization entering the 2017 season.
And while the 21-year-old is knocking on the door of the major leagues, there doesn't appear to be a spot for him on the infield for the upcoming season.
The Giants have shifted Arroyo, to third base in anticipation of an opening in 2018 when Eduardo Nunez becomes a free agent.

But what about left field? Jarrett Parker and Mac Williamson are engaged in a battle for the starting spot. But could Arroyo factor in if the Giants want to get his bat in the lineup?
Arroyo downplayed that possibility on Saturday.
"[The Giants] haven't really told me anything. I haven't taken any fly balls, so as of now, I don't really know if that's a thing yet or not. They talked about it last year, just moving around, but I haven't taken any fly balls [this spring]," Arroyo said on KNBR 680.
As for his development as an infielder, Arroyo addressed that as well.

"Drafted as a shortstop. Kept playing short. Still playing short to this day. And getting more reps at second. And getting more reps in at third. For us now, the biggest thing is just getting my at-bats and playing every day and showing that I can stay healthy. I talked to our infield guys and they said they were more than comfortable with me playing defensively at all three positions. I work at them all the time and I'm trying to get as good as I can at each one just because if something were to happen, if I have to move over a position or something, they want to see that I can handle that spot. For me, it's about being able to handle multiple positions while also hitting. I've always enjoyed hitting, but I've tried to clean up my defensive game and become a guy who can be relied on defensively," Arroyo said.
In nine games this spring, Arroyo has four hits in 11 at-bats and has driven in two runs.
