SAN FRANCISCO -- Bruce Bochy has spent nearly two weeks talking about his team's slow starts. He even met with the hitters last week to try and stress the importance of not falling behind every night.
Well, it took some time, but the lineup finally broke through with an early rally, and this one lasted a while.
The Giants sent 10 hitters to the plate in the second inning Tuesday, scoring six runs on six hits and a walk. That was more hits than they had in the first two innings of their previous 11 games combined.

The lineup entered the night batting 2-for-35 in the first inning and 3-for-36 in the second inning. The Giants had not scored a run before the third inning all season.
But Buster Posey got things going Tuesday with a leadoff single off Padres lefty Joey Lucchesi and Brandon Crawford sent him to third with a single. Evan Longoria put the Giants ahead with a single and Yangervis Solarte tacked on a bloop double to right. After a walk of Gerardo Parra and a Derek Holland strikeout, Kevin Pillar came up with the bases loaded for a second straight night.

Pillar hit a grand slam Monday. On Tuesday he lined a hard shot to left that bounced in front of Hunter Renfroe and ricocheted off his body as all three runs scored. Tyler Austin capped the scoring with an RBI single.
