Ziegler, 36, was 2-3 with a 2.82 ERA and 18 saves in 36 relief appearances this season.

Boston sends right-hander Jose Almonte and infielder Luis Alejandro Basabe to Arizona.

The trade was announced by the D'backs directly following their 6-2 loss Friday to the Giants at AT&T Park, in which they coughed up a lead.
